Description
The Visual Arts Centre of Clarington (VAC) is a not-for-profit public art gallery and art education centre located in Bowmanville, ON. The organization was incorporated in 1976 to deliver contemporary art to the Clarington Community, the wider Durham Region, and beyond. The VAC has a 47-year history of community engagement, connecting people of all ages and backgrounds in a creative place for artmaking and learning. As a cultural institution, we value diverse perspectives and experiences that add complexity and nuance to the questions and ideas we explore. The VAC is committed to presenting challenging, dialogue-producing experiences whose purpose is to use art as a means of knowledge production and promotion to enact social change through meaningful discussions between the public, artists, and the institution. We respect the diversity of ideas and support different perspectives through equity and inclusive practice.
