Description

The Craft Council Gallery is one of Newfoundland and Labrador’s premier venues for the exhibition of fine craft, one-of-a-kind and craft-based art. Exceptionally refined traditional techniques meet cutting-edge contemporary work in up to twenty-three solo, duo, and group exhibitions annually. A vast range of media and practices are presented with the goal of raising the profile of fine craft and expanding the practices of our province’s most exceptional craftspeople. Wood, ceramic, textiles, carvings, and print works meet interactive new media, audio, video, and installation in exhibitions that honour historic techniques and embrace new technologies. Complimentary programming includes workshops, artist talks, panel discussions and guided tours, enriching our audience’s experience and supporting the professional development of our craftspeople. Located in the heart of downtown St. John’s, the Gallery presents local and national makers at varying stages of their careers and is one of the sole venues to enjoy works by craft artists from other parts of Canada. It is free and open to the public year-round.
