La chambre blanche was the first diffusion centre managed by a collective of artists in Quebec (founded in 1978). The Centre is dedicated to all visual arts’ disciplines, its programming has primarily focused on performance, installation and alternative practices in photography. la chambre blanche’s collective consists of artists and art critics working. It is the only contemporary art documentation centre in Quebec City that offers a publicly available services, complete with research personnel, a welcoming venue and loan of documents. / Fondée en 1978, la chambre blanche fut le premier centre de diffusion géré par un collectif d’artistes à Québec. Vouée à l’ensemble des disciplines des arts visuels, sa programmation des toutes premières années touche principalement la performance, les pratiques alternatives en photographie et l’installation. Le collectif de la chambre blanche se compose d’artistes et de critiques d’art dont la rencontre teinte l’ensemble de ses activités. En 1981, un centre de documentation voit le jour; ce dernier prendra un essor considérable à partir de 1994. Il s’agit du seul centre de documentation en art actuel à Québec offrant un service public complet avec personnel de recherche, lieu d’accueil et prêt de documents.
