Galerie d’art Louise-et-Reuben-Cohen

Art Galleries / Museums (Public)

Description

Galerie d’art Louise-et-Reuben-Cohen is located on the campus of the Université de Moncton, in Pavillon Clément-Cormier. It offers an annual program of contemporary art exhibitions, guided tours, conferences, creative activities, films, conferences, and artist performances. For nearly fifty years, the Acadian community of New Brunswick has witnessed a veritable explosion of artistic creation and expression. From modest beginnings in 1964 and since the first exhibition of Acadian artists presented in 1965, the Art Gallery of the University of Moncton has become a key element of this “Acadian Renaissance”. Very early in its history, the Art Gallery acquired works in order to preserve this important cultural heritage. The collection now includes more than 1,000 works made available to other institutions and university staff through a loan service.
