Bau-Xi Gallery, Vancouver

Art Galleries (Commercial)

Description

Bau-Xi Gallery was first established in 1965 by Bau-Xi Huang in Vancouver to showcase the many Canadian artists in need of gallery representation on the West Coast. It is the oldest commercial gallery in Vancouver. The gallery has been a member of the Art Dealers Association of Canada since the early 1970s and is a founding member of the South Granville Gallery Association. Today Bau-Xi operates in a purpose built, light-filled building on Vancouver’s exclusive Granville Street. The gallery represents both Canadian and International artists, exhibiting Modern and Contemporary painting, photography, and sculpture in three art galleries in Toronto and Vancouver. The gallery provides a range of fine art services including art consultation, in-home trials, delivery, installation, art rental, crating, and shipping.

Visitor Access

In Canada, many small to mid-sized public art galleries, artist-run centres and museums offer free admission, with larger institutions often providing discounts or designated free-access times for youth, students, seniors, and others. Commercial galleries are generally free to enter, while outdoor sculpture parks and sites typically offer year-round access, encouraging informal public engagement with art in open-air settings.
