Power House

Art Galleries (Commercial)

Description

Located in the heart of Lunenburg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Power House opened in 2011 and is part of a larger working studio and commercial gallery that supports established and emerging artists. Power House is open year-round and is one of the few galleries that exhibits Inuit art in the Maritimes, offering a unique experience with a diverse range of sculptures and prints from the 1950s to the present. Housed within a 180 year old building, the gallery also features oil paintings and charcoal drawings by Lynn Misner, devoted owner and manager of Power House.

Visitor Access

In Canada, many small to mid-sized public art galleries, artist-run centres and museums offer free admission, with larger institutions often providing discounts or designated free-access times for youth, students, seniors, and others. Commercial galleries are generally free to enter, while outdoor sculpture parks and sites typically offer year-round access, encouraging informal public engagement with art in open-air settings.
