Copyright & Takedown Policy

Introduction

CanadianArtMap respects copyright and intellectual property rights. If you believe that text, images, audio or any other content on our platform infringes your rights, you may submit a formal takedown request.

We will investigate all valid requests and remove or restrict access to infringing content.

How to File a Takedown Notice

To submit a copyright complaint, please include:

  1. Identification of the copyrighted work

  2. The exact URL(s) where the content appears

  3. Your contact information (name, address, email)

  4. A statement confirming that you believe the use is unauthorized

  5. A statement that your claim is accurate

  6. Your electronic signature

Content Removal

If the complaint is valid, CanadianArtMap may:

  • Remove the content or audio

  • Disable access to it

  • Notify the uploader of the action

Counter-Notification

If you believe your content was removed in error, you may file a counter-notification that includes:

  • Identification of the removed content

  • A statement explaining why it is not infringing

  • Your contact information

  • Your signature

We may restore the content if appropriate.

Repeat Infringers

Users who repeatedly upload infringing content may lose the ability to upload content and/or audio and may have listings removed.

Quick Desktop Map Navigation Tips

Move map: Click and drag

Zoom: Scroll wheel or + / – keys

If prompted:
• Mac → Hold Command + scroll to zoom
• Windows → Hold Ctrl + scroll to zoom

Pan: Arrow keys

Switch views: Buttons for Map/Satellite (bottom left) and 3D/2D, Street View, photos (bottom right)

Quick Mobile Map Navigation Tips

Move map: Swipe with one finger

Zoom: Pinch in/out or double tap to zoom in

One-handed zoom: Double tap + slide up/down

Move without lifting fingers: Pinch + drag

GO BACK: On Android: Swipe from left or right edge of screen to activate the “back” function. On iOS: Swipe from the left edge of the screen to go back.

“Use two fingers to move” → place two fingers on the map and drag

Tilt/Rotate: Two fingers slide up/down or twist; tap compass to reset north

Markers & Other Features

Tapping a marker opens an info box with that listing’s contact details, a description, and a “View Listing” button.

The “View Listing” button links to a full-page post with more listing details, images, and links.

Listings link to Google Directions for navigation. Use the location field to identify your location for directions to a venue or site, or between sites.

Filter Listings: Use the dropdown menu (hamburger ☰ on mobile) to filter by category, location, tag (e.g., “sculpture”), or venue name.

Toggle Full-Screen Button: Use this button for a full-screen view of the map on a desktop.

Current Location: Tap/click the target icon to focus the map on your location.

YOUR ITINERARY

Add listings by tapping the “Add to Itinerary” button on any listing page. Use the "Add a Hot Spot" button to add a café, restaurant/bar or local attraction to your itinerary. Tap the "Share Itinerary" button to download and share a PDF of your itinerary.
