Description
The 1867 Gothic Revival House, known as the Lefurgey Cultural Centre, graces the corner of Granville and Prince Streets. The Lefurgey Gift Shop is the point of sale for tickets for the Wyatt House Museum. Ice cream and rhubarb punch made onsite during the summer months can be purchased and enjoyed on the veranda or in the dining room. Lefurgey has a rich architectural, family, and community history and is one of the three Victorian gemstones that make up Wyatt Heritage Properties. It serves as exhibit, programming and office space for Culture Summerside, the arts, heritage, and culture department of the city. The Lefurgey Cultural Centre delivers a diverse array of activities that enhance the lives of Prince Edward Islanders and our visitors. Once the home of Wanda Wyatt’s maternal grandfather, John E. Lefurgey, this stately residence was acquired by Miss Wyatt in 1966 and officially opened five years later as a centre for local artisans to pursue and teach their crafts.
