Description

Arts on Main Gallery had its birth in 2005 when Alan Gratias, a county resident, purchased the Roblin building that sits at the corner of Ross and Main Street, Picton. Formerly the showroom for Roblin Motors, it had been closed for years. Working with two friends from the advertising world in Toronto, Terry Williams, and Ann Wood, the three became the founders and champions of Arts on Main Gallery. Terry became the Founding Chair; Ann recruited and selected talented County artists; Alan refurbished the old heritage building with new floor windows, lighting and all that was needed to transform the old car showroom into a bright, cheerful gallery…. a showroom for local artistic endeavours. Arts on Main Gallery (AOMG) officially opened on May 18, 2007, with twenty-seven County artists showcasing their work. This gallery became one of the few cooperative galleries in southeastern Ontario and one devoted to showing work only by local artists.
