The Canadian Art Map platform combines venue listings, interactive maps, itinerary building tools, and marketing templates that help you and your audiences plan, share, and promote visits.

Visitor Engagement Tools for Cultural Venues

Visitors use Canadian Art Map to:

  • Find, discover, and explore cultural venues across Canada.
  • Search for nearby art destinations, exhibitions, performances, and cultural experiences.
  • Locate and plan outings, entertainment, restaurant, and café stops around venues they visit.
  • Create, co-produce, and share itineraries with friends and fellow visitors.

Canadian Art Map complements your marketing, communications, and development activities by helping audiences convert interest into a visit.

PARTNER OPTIONS

STANDARD
Listing

A listing on Canadian Art Map creates a live connection between your venue and visitors discovering art across Canada.

Standard Listings Include:

  • A marker and descriptive modal on national and provincial maps.
  • A full-page listing including a site-specific Google map, Google Street View, website link,  venue description, and contact details.
  • Integrated Google map directions. Custom pin on a Google Map with a built-in directions tool and shareable link.
  • A standard listing allows for two updates annually. Additional updates available at cost.

PARTNER
Listing

Partner listings extend the reach of a standard listing with additional tools that help you actively engage visitors discovering art across Canada and in your region.

A Partner listing includes all the features of a standard listing, along with visitor engagement tools and an expanding collection of marketing and communications, and development templates.

PARTNER Program Includes:

  • All Standard listing features +
  • Self-managed listing. Password protected. Login access to update your listing at any time.
  • Expanded project and exhibition listings.
  • Image galleries and media links. Ongoing / Upcoming projects section to promote exhibitions, programming, and projects [complete with images, contact details, and visitor information].
  • Visitor amenities and accessibility information

VISITOR ENGAGEMENT TOOLS:

  • ITINERARY BUILDER  (The core engagement tool of Canadian Art Map): Visitors can build and share itineraries that include your venue and nearby galleries, museums, theatres, and cultural destinations. Itineraries can be shared digitally or exported as printable PDFs with maps and directions.
  • CUSTOM ITINERARY PDFs: Create and share event-specific itineraries that visitors can save, customize, and share with others. Encourage audiences to plan their outing around your venue. Build custom itineraries in partnership with local businesses and other cultural venues that strengthen community ecosystems.
  • “PLAN YOUR VISIT — Directions • Share” Link: Add a “Plan Your Visit” link to your website. The link opens an interactive PDF showing a map to your venue, a Google Directions link, and a QR code that builds an itinerary centred on your venue. Visitors can add stops to the itinerary, and then share and co-plan their visit with friends and fellow visitors.
  • VISITOR ENGAGEMENT INSIGHTS: See how visitors interact with your listing and itinerary tools.
  • TEMPLATES: An expanding collection of templates to help marketing, communications, and development teams connect with audiences and promote programming.

Services

Update services are available to organizations needing assistance managing their listing, or requesting occasional updates.

Listing Update Services:

  • Send updated content and our team will handle all required changes.
  • The fee is $80 / update. A single update includes one review/edit cycle.
  • A single update can include one or more of the following: image replacements, website link updates, description updates, add a custom Google Street View to a  single listing page.

PLAN YOUR VISIT LINK:

  • Production of a custom “PLAN YOUR VISIT — Directions • Share” link. The link opens an interactive PDF showing a map to your venue, a Google Directions link, and QR code that builds an itinerary centred on your venue. Visitors can add stops to the itinerary, and then share and co-plan their visit with friends and fellow visitors.

Quick Desktop Map Navigation Tips

Move map: Click and drag

Zoom: Scroll wheel or + / – keys

If prompted:
• Mac → Hold Command + scroll to zoom
• Windows → Hold Ctrl + scroll to zoom

Pan: Arrow keys

Switch views: Buttons for Map/Satellite (bottom left) and 3D/2D, Street View, photos (bottom right)

Quick Mobile Map Navigation Tips

Move map: Swipe with one finger

Zoom: Pinch in/out or double tap to zoom in

One-handed zoom: Double tap + slide up/down

Move without lifting fingers: Pinch + drag

GO BACK: On Android: Swipe from left or right edge of screen to activate the “back” function. On iOS: Swipe from the left edge of the screen to go back.

“Use two fingers to move” → place two fingers on the map and drag

Tilt/Rotate: Two fingers slide up/down or twist; tap compass to reset north

Markers & Other Features

Tapping a marker opens an info box with that listing’s contact details, a description, and a “View Listing” button.

The “View Listing” button links to a full-page post with more listing details, images, and links.

Listings link to Google Directions for navigation. Use the location field to identify your location for directions to a venue or site, or between sites.

Filter Listings: Use the dropdown menu (hamburger ☰ on mobile) to filter by category, location, tag (e.g., “sculpture”), or venue name.

Toggle Full-Screen Button: Use this button for a full-screen view of the map on a desktop.

Current Location: Tap/click the target icon to focus the map on your location.
